Fuel your Creativity with Flavour of the Month Club Meet Ups
By Dana McCauley
I used to fantasize about having an empty week that offered an opportunity to hunker down at home away from the hustle and bustle of the professional world. Now that I’m almost a year into working from home everyday, I’ve filed that dream under the heading of ‘be careful what you wish for’.
I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in craving contact with smart people who have interesting ideas. Pre-pandemic FOMO (fear of missing out) pushed food business creatives and innovators to attend conferences, roam the aisles of grocery stores and become foot sore at trade shows. We took every opportunity to discover inspiration to fuel the creation of new business insights and ideas. It was exhausting but man, oh man do I miss it!
Moreover, just when we can’t get together to brainstorm and share ideas, we need that contact urgently. Finding new ways of doing business requires being agile (think about how many times you’ve heard someone say the word “pivot” in the last year). Food business leaders are under immense pressure to find creative solutions that will ensure their companies will survive to 2022 and beyond. And yet we’re isolated from the experiences and conversations that used fuel our innovation engines.
To help offset this problem, I’m launching a virtual monthly meet-up called Flavour of the Month club. It’s a simple idea: once a month I’ll open 10 spots in a zoom meeting where experienced food business people can meet to share ideas and speak confidentially. It will give us all an hour to sound board, problem solve, network with others working in food business innovation. I’ll start each meet up with some food trend insight but after that, the conversation will take its own course.
What are you doing to stay innovative? If you’ve found new ways to feed your creativity, I’d love to hear about them. Drop me a line or set up a short call to say ‘hi’ and share your strategies.
FYI: The first Flavour of the Month Club will take place Wednesday, January 27th at 3:30 pm (EST) and in February we’ll meet up on Monday, February 22nd at 3:30 pm EST. And, you can always see what events we’re hosting by checking out our Events tab.
